Margate Language Centre
joins IALC |
We are delighted
to announce that we have been
invited to join IALC - the International Association of Language Centres.
The
IALC quality seal is a trusted symbol in language study abroad. All
IALC language schools are regularly inspected
and continuously
monitored. The IALC Code of Ethics sets the standards for member language
schools and the IALC Quality Scheme ensures these standards are not
only met, but exceeded.
IALC language schools are independently owned
and managed. Each language school reflects the unique character of
its location and
country, and looks after its students with local pride and meticulous
attention. |

Margate
Language Centre is now a registered TOEIC test centre |
Due to increasing demand for
the TOEIC test, and to avoid our students having to travel to London
in order to take the test, we have become a registered TOEIC test centre.
The TOEIC test measures proficiency in international business English.
It is a worldwide standard for measuring English proficiency
in the workplace. It has become a very popular way for companies to
evaluate the current English level of their employees and therefore
taking the exam can help students to access a wider job market.
We now offer the TOEIC test as a supplement to any course taken at
Margate Language Centre.

The British Council think we
are excellent! |
As
a British Council accredited English language school, we are inspected
regularly to ensure that
what we are offering our adult students is of the highest quality. All
aspects of what we offer are inspected: the teaching, the classrooms,
the school facilities, the socail programme, the host families and
the management of the school.
We are happy to report that we successfully completed our latest inspection,
in August 2006, and so are fully accredited until 2011. In addition,
the inspectors described our school facilities as well as our approach
to student
welfare
as
points of excellence. |

area. In less than ten minutes on the bus students now find
themselves in a light and spacious centre with a great collection
of Britain's most popular shops such as Marks and Spencers,
the Body Shop, Debenhams and Next. No more excuses for not
taking home presents for your friends and family! |

Culver
House and Churchfield House
Although it is still the most popular option, not every student wants to
stay with an English family while they are studying with us. As a result,
Margate Language Centre bought and refurbished Culver House in 2005, and
Churchfield House in 2007, to provide high-quality self-catering.

Turner
Contemporary
As a tribute to the famous British
artist Joseph Mallord William Turner, a major new art gallery, named
'Turner Contemporary' is going to be built in Margate.
Richard Nicholson, leader of Thanet District Council, said: "This
is a most wonderful opportunity for the area. It will provide the catalyst
for our plans to regenerate the old town as an artists' quarter and give
Margate an entirely new focus both as a tourist destination and as a
place to work and live."
London artist Turner, one of the British greats, spent many years
in Margate. His works inspired by Margate include "The Old Pier",
an oil painting from 1804, and "Sunrise with Sea Monsters" in
1846.
The centre building will be sited on a seafront location close
to where Turner stayed over several decades. Timothy Mason, formerly
with the
Museums and Galleries Commission, said he hoped that the building will "do
for Margate what Gehry's Guggenheim has done for Bilbao".
